Wellington Park is a protected area that includes Mount Wellington (kunanyi) and surrounds near Hobart.\n\n**What it covers:**\n\n*   **Protecting nature:** You generally can't pick plants, hunt animals, use chainsaws, or take rocks and minerals without a special permit. You also can't pollute water or damage caves.\n*   **Animals:** Dogs are only allowed on specific trails or inside vehicles on roads, and must be on a lead and cleaned up after. Horses are restricted to designated trails. Other animals are banned unless you have a permit. Guide dogs and assistance animals are exempt.\n*   **Vehicles and traffic:** Cars, motorbikes and other vehicles must stay on roads and designated tracks. Bicycles can only be used on roads and specific bicycle tracks. The Trust can close roads for safety or management reasons. Aircraft (including drones) generally can't take off or land in the park without a permit, except in emergencies or for hang-gliding/paragliding where allowed.\n*   **Access:** The Trust can erect \"no-access\" signs to restrict entry to certain areas. You can't enter restricted areas or areas closed due to fire, flood or emergency unless authorised.\n*   **Camping:** You can only camp in designated areas under a management plan. Special rules apply for camping with horses or 4WD vehicles.\n*   **Fires:** Lighting fires is heavily restricted. You generally need a permit, unless using a fuel stove (like a gas cooker) or a designated fireplace. Fire safety signs must be obeyed. Leaving fires unattended is prohibited.\n*   **Activities and behaviour:** The Trust can regulate recreational activities through signs and permits. Offensive behaviour, littering, and damaging cultural heritage (including Aboriginal relics) are banned.\n*   **Structures and tracks:** You can't build structures, erect signs, or create new tracks without a permit.\n*   **Permits:** The legislation details how to apply for permits to do things that are otherwise banned, how they can be cancelled or suspended, and the fees involved (ranging from 100 to 500 fee units depending on complexity).\n\n**Who it affects:** Anyone visiting Wellington Park—bushwalkers, cyclists, dog walkers, campers, 4WD enthusiasts, and commercial operators.\n\n**Why it matters:** It balances public recreation with conservation of the park's natural and cultural values, and ensures public safety. Breaking these rules can result in fines (up to 50 penalty units for serious offences like unauthorised fires)."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/wellington-park-regulations-2019","history":"/api/acts/wellington-park-regulations-2019/history","analysis":"/api/acts/wellington-park-regulations-2019/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/wellington-park-regulations-2019/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/wellington-park-regulations-2019/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/wellington-park-regulations-2019/documents"}}
