They govern how teachers, schools and the Teachers Registration Board must manage registration, qualifications, suitability checks, fees and related processes.\n\nThese regulations matter because they operationalise safeguards that keep unqualified or unsuitable people out of classrooms. Note: the full regulatory text wasn’t provided, so specific fees and procedures aren’t available here."},"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"These regulations do not change the Act's substantive coverage; they implement the Act by prescribing the fees payable under the Act (Regulation 4 and Schedule 1) and by specifying the persons/bodies and purposes authorised to receive registration information under section 26A of the Act (Regulation 5). It does three main things:\n\n**1. Sets fees for teacher registration** (Schedule 1)\n- It lists 14 different fees teachers must pay, including:\n  - **$33.21** to apply for registration or renewal (using fee units, which are a standard way of setting fees that adjust with inflation)\n  - **$61.90** annual registration fee\n  - **$1,111.11** to apply for advanced certification as a \"highly accomplished or lead teacher\"\n  - Various fees for replacements, verifications, and professional standing letters\n\n**2. Defines who can access teacher registration data** (Regulation 5)\n- The main Act allows certain \"relevant authorities\" to access teacher information for specific purposes. This regulation names those authorities, including:\n  - National bodies like the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Australian Institute of Health and Welfare\n  - Other state and territory teacher registration bodies (so teachers can move between states more easily)\n  - Tasmania Police and child protection departments\n  - Universities and research bodies\n- It also specifies the purposes: education, research, child protection, and related activities\n\n**3. Provides continuity if organisations change**\n- If any of the named national bodies (AIHW, AITSL, ABS) are abolished or restructured, their successors automatically take their place\n\n**Who it affects:** Anyone wanting to teach in Tasmania, the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania, and various government and educational bodies that need teacher data for legitimate purposes.\n\n**Why it matters:** This ensures teacher registration runs smoothly, sets transparent costs for entering and staying in the profession, and enables data sharing that supports teacher mobility across Australia, workforce planning, and child safety."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/teachers-registration-regulations-2021","history":"/api/acts/teachers-registration-regulations-2021/history","analysis":"/api/acts/teachers-registration-regulations-2021/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/teachers-registration-regulations-2021/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/teachers-registration-regulations-2021/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/teachers-registration-regulations-2021/documents"}}
