It covers two main areas:\n\n**1. Administrative fees for higher education providers (Schedule 1)**\nThese are one-off or annual fees that universities, colleges and other education providers must pay to the Tasmanian government for:\n- Applying to have their courses officially recognised (accredited)\n- Registering as an approved education provider\n- Renewing their registration or accreditation\n- Getting official statements about qualifications\n\nThe fees range from around 20 fee units for simple statements up to 50,000 fee units for applications to establish a new university.\n\n**2. Examination worker fees (Schedule 2)**\nThese are the rates paid to casual staff who help run Tasmania's senior secondary exams (like the TCE). This includes:\n- **Supervisors** ($75 per exam session) – the people who watch over students during exams\n- **Setting examiners** ($500–$1,000 per paper) – the teachers who write the actual exam questions\n- **Critics** ($150–$300 per paper) – experts who review draft exams for errors\n- **Markers** ($245 per batch of papers, or hourly rates) – teachers who grade the completed exams\n- **Coordinators** – people who organise exam centres or manage teams of markers\n\nThe regulation uses \"fee units\" rather than dollar amounts. This means the actual dollar value changes over time as the government updates the value of a fee unit, without needing to rewrite the regulation.\n\n**Why it matters:** This ensures everyone involved in Tasmania's exam system gets paid consistently, and that education providers know exactly what they'll be charged for official approvals."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/tasmanian-assessment-standards-and-certification-fees-regulations-2025","history":"/api/acts/tasmanian-assessment-standards-and-certification-fees-regulations-2025/history","analysis":"/api/acts/tasmanian-assessment-standards-and-certification-fees-regulations-2025/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/tasmanian-assessment-standards-and-certification-fees-regulations-2025/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/tasmanian-assessment-standards-and-certification-fees-regulations-2025/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/tasmanian-assessment-standards-and-certification-fees-regulations-2025/documents"}}
