The instrument removes TCO 9808400 (covering seismic cables under tariff heading 8544.41.90) and substitutes TCO 0614508 (covering seismic cables under tariff heading 8544.42.19) with effect from 01.01.2007. That substitution moves the goods to a different Schedule 4 item (now shown as item 50), which changes which tariff concession under the Customs Tariff Act 1995 applies. The practical effect is a change to which imports are eligible for the prior concession and requires affected importers to adjust duty treatment and declarations from the effective date."},"complexity_factors":["Statutory delegate action under section 269SD(2) of the Customs Act 1901 (administrative revocation/replacement)","Cross-reference to Part III, Schedule 4 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995 (affects concession entitlement)","Change of tariff classification codes (from 8544.41.90 to 8544.42.19) requiring tariff re‑interpretation","Change in Schedule 4 item number (previous order entry replaced by item '50') which alters concession applicability","Specified effective date (Revocation effective 01.01.2007) creating a clear compliance cut‑off","Narrow technical product description (seismic cables fitted with connectors) that may require customs officers and importers to map products to codes","Administrative burden on importers/customs brokers to update declarations and records","Limited drafting complexity—short instrument but interacts with broader tariff schedules and concession rules"],"plain_english_summary":"This instrument revokes Tariff Concession Order (TCO) 9808400 for \"seismic cables, fitted with connectors\" and replaces it with TCO 0614508.
