The Land Act 1958 (the main law governing Crown land in Victoria) had rules preventing leases on reserved land. This Act creates a specific exception to those rules for this particular site.\n\n**What the leases can be used for:**\n\n- Sport and recreation\n- Amenities connected with sport and recreation (like clubhouses, changing rooms, etc.)\n- Building structures for those purposes\n\n**Who it affects:**\n\nPrimarily sporting clubs, community groups, or other organisations wanting to lease land at Sandringham foreshore for recreational facilities. It also affects the government officials who manage Crown land, giving them specific permission they wouldn't otherwise have.\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nWithout this law, the land couldn't be leased because it was permanently reserved for public use. This Act unlocks the ability for community groups to establish long-term facilities on the Sandringham foreshore while the land technically remains Crown land."},"issue_detection":{"absurdities":[],"contradictions":[]}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/sandringham-land-act-1978","history":"/api/acts/sandringham-land-act-1978/history","analysis":"/api/acts/sandringham-land-act-1978/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/sandringham-land-act-1978/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/sandringham-land-act-1978/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/sandringham-land-act-1978/documents"}}
