Short title\n\nThis Act may be cited as the *Reserves (Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline Corridor) Act 2003*.\n\n##### 2. Commencement\n\nThis Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.\n\n##### 3. Definition\n\nIn this Act —\n\nCommission means the Conservation Commission of Western Australia established by section 18 of the *Conservation and Land Management Act 1984*.\n\n##### 4. Plans held in DOLA graphic bank\n\nThe plans referred to in this Act are held in the graphic bank within the Department of Land Administration 2.\n\n## Part 2 — Excision of land from reserves\n\n##### 5. Reserve no. 27219 (Minyulo nature reserve)\n\n(1) In subsection (2) —\n\nthe reserve means class A reserve no. 27219 comprising 199.762 9 ha of land that is —\n\n(a) reserved for the conservation of flora and fauna; and\n\n(b) vested in the Commission.\n\n(2) The reserve is amended by excising an area of 6.855 5 ha as shown on Deposited Plan 29769 so that the reserve comprises 192.907 4 ha.\n\n##### 6. Reserve no. 31809 (Badgingarra national park)\n\n(1) In subsection (2) —\n\nthe reserve means class A reserve no. 31809 comprising 13 120.553 6 ha of land that is —\n\n(a) reserved for the purpose of a national park; and\n\n(b) vested in the Commission.\n\n(2) The reserve is amended by excising an area of 12.799 ha as shown on Deposited Plan 29771 so that the reserve comprises 13 107.754 6 ha.\n\n##### 7. Reserve no. 46122 (Cane River reserve)\n\n(1) In subsection (2) —\n\nthe reserve means reserve no. 46122 comprising 147 843 ha of land that is —\n\n(a) reserved for the purpose of a conservation park; and\n\n(b) vested in the Commission.\n\n(2) The reserve is amended by excising an area of 268.581 3 ha as shown on Deposited Plan 29774 so that the reserve comprises 147 574.418 7 ha.\n\nNotes\n\n1 This is a compilation of the *Reserves (Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline Corridor) Act 2003*. The land is being removed so that the Dampier to Bunbury natural gas pipeline can pass through.\n\n**Who it affects:**\n\n* **The Conservation Commission of Western Australia** — the government body that manages these protected areas loses control over the excised land.\n* **Three specific reserves:**\n * **Minyulo Nature Reserve** — losing about 6.86 hectares (roughly 7 football fields)\n * **Badgingarra National Park** — losing about 12.8 hectares\n * **Cane River Conservation Park** — losing about 268.58 hectares (the largest chunk)\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nNormally, you can't build infrastructure like gas pipelines through national parks and nature reserves. This law makes an exception by physically removing those specific parcels from the protected estate. It's a practical solution to allow critical energy infrastructure to proceed, but it reduces the total area of conservation land in Western Australia — particularly the Cane River reserve, which loses nearly 270 hectares.\n\nThe law is very specific: it references exact survey plans (Deposited Plans 29769, 29771, and 29774) held by the land titles office, so there's no ambiguity about which patches of dirt are affected."},"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"A positive credit balance is required for all requests, including BYOK, so fallback providers remain available.
