They also set the fine for a specific offence.\n\n**Who it affects:**\n\n- **Women seeking abortions in Tasmania** – they have a legal right to be given information about specific support services\n- **Doctors and medical practitioners** – they are legally required to provide contact details for these named services when discussing termination options\n- **The five named organisations** – they are now officially recognised as \"prescribed health services\" under the law:\n  - Family Planning Tasmania\n  - Pulse Youth Health (for women under 25)\n  - The Link-Youth Health Service (for women under 26)\n  - Women's Health Tasmania Inc.\n  - Women's Health Information Line\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nTasmanian law requires doctors to give women a list of health services when discussing abortion. These regulations update that list with current organisations and their contact details. This ensures women receive accurate, up-to-date information about counselling and support services.\n\nThe regulations also specify that breaking a particular rule about these notifications (an offence under section 9(8) of the main Act) can result in an **infringement notice** – essentially an on-the-spot fine of **2 penalty units** (roughly $300-$400, though penalty unit values change over time)."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/reproductive-health-access-to-terminations-regulations-2024","history":"/api/acts/reproductive-health-access-to-terminations-regulations-2024/history","analysis":"/api/acts/reproductive-health-access-to-terminations-regulations-2024/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/reproductive-health-access-to-terminations-regulations-2024/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/reproductive-health-access-to-terminations-regulations-2024/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/reproductive-health-access-to-terminations-regulations-2024/documents"}}
