Hall Fellowships** — funding for expert medical researchers to visit NSW to share knowledge, or for selected people to travel overseas for training\n  - Related supporting activities\n- Lets trustees spend **capital** (the original money) too, but only up to 5% per year — or up to 10% if the Minister agrees\n- Expands how the trustees can **invest** the money while waiting to spend it, allowing any investments permitted under the general Trustee Act 1925\n\n**Who it affects:**\n- The trustees managing Hall's estate\n- Medical researchers and institutions in NSW working on heart disease and cancer\n- The NSW Minister who approves additional medical fields and higher spending limits\n\n**Why it matters:**\nThis law turns one person's bequest into an ongoing source of funding for medical research. It balances flexibility (trustees can adapt to new research needs) with protection (spending limits preserve the fund for future generations). The fellowship program specifically aims to bring international expertise to NSW and send local talent abroad."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/r-t-hall-trusts-act-1958","history":"/api/acts/r-t-hall-trusts-act-1958/history","analysis":"/api/acts/r-t-hall-trusts-act-1958/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/r-t-hall-trusts-act-1958/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/r-t-hall-trusts-act-1958/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/r-t-hall-trusts-act-1958/documents"}}
