It puts the Attorney-General in charge of running Australia's early intellectual property system by changing who administers three existing laws: the **Patents Act** (covering inventions), the **Trade Marks Act** (covering brands and logos), and the **Designs Act** (covering how products look).\n\nPreviously, these Acts may have been managed by different departments or ministers. Now, one Minister—the Attorney-General—oversees all three areas, though the Governor-General can redirect this responsibility to another Minister if needed.\n\n**Important:** This law does **not** change the rules for registering patents, trademarks, or designs, nor does it alter the rights of inventors or businesses. It only changes which government minister runs the office that handles them."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/patents-trade-marks-and-designs-act-1910","history":"/api/acts/patents-trade-marks-and-designs-act-1910/history","analysis":"/api/acts/patents-trade-marks-and-designs-act-1910/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/patents-trade-marks-and-designs-act-1910/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/patents-trade-marks-and-designs-act-1910/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/patents-trade-marks-and-designs-act-1910/documents"}}
