The land was being carved out to make way for the Mitchell Freeway and road widening. The law also scraps an earlier 1956 law that had governed the same reserve.\n\n**What it does:**\n- **Removes land from Parliament House grounds:** Specifically, it excises Perth Lots 834 and 836 from Reserve A*1162 (the official designation for the Parliament House site).\n- **Allows freeway construction:** The excised land is authorised to be used for the Mitchell Freeway and associated road widening.\n- **Cleans up old law:** It repeals (cancels) the *Parliament House Site Permanent Reserve (A*1162) Act, 1956-1964*.\n\n**Who it affects:**\n- The Western Australian government (specifically the Lands Department, now the Land Information Authority).\n- Anyone using or affected by the Mitchell Freeway (the land became part of the road corridor).\n\n**Why it matters:**\nThis was a routine technical adjustment to land boundaries to accommodate Perth's growing road infrastructure. It shows how specific parliamentary land can be repurposed for public infrastructure through dedicated legislation."},"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":2,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"Yes.
