These Regulations may be cited as the Papua New Guinea Independence (Australian Citizenship of Young Persons) Regulations.\n\nRe-acquistion of Australian citizenship lost by certain persons on Independence Day\n\n2. A person who on Independence Day—\n\n(a) was under 19 years of age;\n\n(b) was not for the purposes of section 64 of the Constitution of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea a person who was never granted a right (whether revocable or not) to permanent residence in Australia; and\n\n(c) ceased to be an Australian citizen,\n\nshall be deemed to have re-acquired his Australian citizenship on that day.\n\nLoss of Australian citizenship re-acquired under regulation 2\n\n3. On renouncing Australian citizenship and making the Declaration of Loyalty in accordance with the Constitution of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, a person referred to in regulation 2 ceases to be an Australian citizen.\n\n> Note: NOTE\n\n> Note: 1.
