When a drug is removed from Part VII, it means the government stops paying part of the cost.\n\n**Who it affects:** Patients who were previously prescribed this specific antibiotic will now pay the full price at the pharmacy, unless their doctor switches them to a different subsidized antibiotic.\n\n**Why this happened:** The decision was made by a senior health department official acting for the Minister, after receiving advice from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee — the independent experts who review which medicines should be subsidized based on their value for money.\n\n**When it took effect:** 1 August 2003."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/national-health-act-1953-declaration-under-subsection-85-2aa-no-pb-10-of-2003","history":"/api/acts/national-health-act-1953-declaration-under-subsection-85-2aa-no-pb-10-of-2003/history","analysis":"/api/acts/national-health-act-1953-declaration-under-subsection-85-2aa-no-pb-10-of-2003/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/national-health-act-1953-declaration-under-subsection-85-2aa-no-pb-10-of-2003/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/national-health-act-1953-declaration-under-subsection-85-2aa-no-pb-10-of-2003/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/national-health-act-1953-declaration-under-subsection-85-2aa-no-pb-10-of-2003/documents"}}
