This regulation ensured that specific Migration Regulations—ones that depend on notices issued by the Minister—wouldn't break during the switch. It temporarily treated references to the old Act (section 49A) as if they were references to the new Act (section 14).\n\n**Who it affects:** Primarily the Minister for Immigration and Migration Regulations made under the *Migration Act 1958*.\n\n**Key point:** This regulation had a built-in expiry date—it automatically stopped working on 31 December 2005, having served its purpose for the transition period."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/legislative-instruments-transitional-provisions-and-consequential-amendments-regulations-2005","history":"/api/acts/legislative-instruments-transitional-provisions-and-consequential-amendments-regulations-2005/history","analysis":"/api/acts/legislative-instruments-transitional-provisions-and-consequential-amendments-regulations-2005/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/legislative-instruments-transitional-provisions-and-consequential-amendments-regulations-2005/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/legislative-instruments-transitional-provisions-and-consequential-amendments-regulations-2005/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/legislative-instruments-transitional-provisions-and-consequential-amendments-regulations-2005/documents"}}
