It affects affected landholders, committees of management and land administrators, and makes clear the Crown will not pay compensation for actions under the Act (ss.5, 10). However, this part was repealed (cancelled) in 2013, though it protects any leases that existed before the repeal.\n\n*   **Part 3 (South Yarra Land):** Facilitates a land exchange between Fawkner Park and a former child welfare centre site in South Yarra, Melbourne. It:\n    *   Cancels existing protections and Crown grants over specific parcels of land\n    *   Declares the land to be \"unalienated Crown land\" (meaning it returns to full government ownership, free of previous restrictions)\n    *   Immediately re-reserves the land under new purposes—essentially swapping the legal status of the two parcels\n    *   Transfers the management committee from one site to the other\n    *   Requires the land titles office to update records accordingly\n\n**Who it affects:**\n\n*   The Victorian Government (the Crown)\n*   Anyone with interests in the specific parcels of land at Werribee (historically) and South Yarra\n*   The Committee of Management responsible for the child welfare centre reserve\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nThis is a technical \"machinery\" Act that enables specific property transactions that would otherwise be blocked by existing reservations and Crown grants. It allows the government to repurpose protected land without going through multiple separate legal processes. Importantly, **no compensation is payable** by the government for any actions taken under this Act."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/land-miscellaneous-matters-act-1988","history":"/api/acts/land-miscellaneous-matters-act-1988/history","analysis":"/api/acts/land-miscellaneous-matters-act-1988/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/land-miscellaneous-matters-act-1988/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/land-miscellaneous-matters-act-1988/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/land-miscellaneous-matters-act-1988/documents"}}
