It applies to medical practitioners practising in general practice (includes GPs, excludes specialists) and commences 1 November 2017. It matters because it determines how post‑operative GP care is classified for Medicare billing and who may claim separate benefits."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/health-insurance-subsection-3-5-general-practitioner-post-operative-treatment-direction-2017","history":"/api/acts/health-insurance-subsection-3-5-general-practitioner-post-operative-treatment-direction-2017/history","analysis":"/api/acts/health-insurance-subsection-3-5-general-practitioner-post-operative-treatment-direction-2017/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/health-insurance-subsection-3-5-general-practitioner-post-operative-treatment-direction-2017/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/health-insurance-subsection-3-5-general-practitioner-post-operative-treatment-direction-2017/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/health-insurance-subsection-3-5-general-practitioner-post-operative-treatment-direction-2017/documents"}}
