Specifically, it:\n\n* **Repeals** (cancels) the *Fruit and Nut Industry (Research, Development and Extension Trust Fund) Act 2012* — the law that originally created the fund\n* **Closes** the FNRDE Account (the bank account holding the fund's money)\n* **Dissolves** the Board of Management (the body that ran the fund)\n* **Transfers responsibility** for any ongoing legal matters, debts, or assets from the dissolved Board to the Crown (the Tasmanian Government)\n\n**Who it affects:**\n\n* Fruit and nut growers who previously contributed to or benefited from the trust fund\n* The Board of Management members (their positions are abolished)\n* The Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (which temporarily takes over administration)\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nThis is a **\"tidying up\" law**. The government has decided the trust fund structure is no longer needed — likely because the research and development functions have been consolidated elsewhere or funding arrangements have changed. The Act ensures a smooth transition: money and legal obligations don't disappear into a void, but transfer cleanly to the government. Without this law, there would be uncertainty about who manages remaining funds or handles any lawsuits involving the old Board."},"summary":{"complexity_score":2,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The legislation appears entirely consistent with its stated purpose — to repeal the Fruit and Nut Industry (Research, Development and Extension Trust Fund) Act.
