But the government needed that specific parcel of land back for something else.\n\n**What the law actually does:**\n\n* **Cancels the original deal** — It revokes (cancels) the original Crown grant and the permanent reservation for that specific 595 square metre parcel.\n* **Takes the land back** — It makes that land \"unalienated land of the Crown\" — meaning it becomes ordinary government-owned land again, free from any previous restrictions, trusts, or obligations.\n* **No payout** — It explicitly states that nobody gets compensation for this happening.\n\n**Who it affects:**\n\nPrimarily the trustees who were holding the land and anyone with interests in that specific parcel. For everyone else, this law has no effect.\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nThis is an example of a \"private\" or \"local\" Act — legislation passed to deal with a specific piece of land rather than setting general rules. These were more common in the past when governments needed to unwind specific historical land arrangements. It shows how Parliament can intervene to alter property rights when the government wants land back for public purposes."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/fairfield-land-act-1985","history":"/api/acts/fairfield-land-act-1985/history","analysis":"/api/acts/fairfield-land-act-1985/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/fairfield-land-act-1985/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/fairfield-land-act-1985/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/fairfield-land-act-1985/documents"}}
