The provisions were included in the annual Appropriation Acts to allow the Finance Minister to determine that a required amount published in the annual report of an agency is taken to be the required amount specified in the determination. The power in subsection 11(2)(b) and subsection 12(2)(b) is to ensure that the amount published in an agency annual report for the administered item or the State, ACT, NT and local government item can be changed, if, for example, the amount is erroneous or requires updating after agency annual reports are published.\n\n4 Purpose\n\nThe Instrument contains determinations that reduce the relevant appropriation items to the required amounts specified for the agencies listed in the Schedules. This document gives the Finance Minister power to officially override those incorrect figures and set the \"required amount\" to match what actually appears (or should appear) in the annual report.\n\n**Who it affects:**\nGovernment agencies that receive \"administered appropriations\" (money they manage on behalf of the government) and funding for State, Territory, and local government projects.\n\n**Why it matters:**\nWithout this fix, a typo in an annual report could create legal confusion about spending limits. This ensures the official budget records match reality, preventing agencies from being stuck with erroneous spending caps or appearing to exceed their budgets due to paperwork mistakes."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/determination-to-reduce-administered-appropriations-no-1-of-2009-2010","history":"/api/acts/determination-to-reduce-administered-appropriations-no-1-of-2009-2010/history","analysis":"/api/acts/determination-to-reduce-administered-appropriations-no-1-of-2009-2010/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/determination-to-reduce-administered-appropriations-no-1-of-2009-2010/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/determination-to-reduce-administered-appropriations-no-1-of-2009-2010/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/determination-to-reduce-administered-appropriations-no-1-of-2009-2010/documents"}}
