This creates a legal risk—what if someone argues the tax wasn't lawful because the proper Act wasn't finished yet? This statute fixes that problem by declaring that any duties collected under two specific October 1956 proposals were **lawful all along**, regardless of whether they were paid before or after this validation Act came into force.\n\n**Who it affects:** Importers who paid duties under the Customs Tariff Proposals No. 8 and Customs Tariff (New Zealand Preference) Proposals No. 1 between the relevant dates."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-validation-act-1956","history":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-validation-act-1956/history","analysis":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-validation-act-1956/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-validation-act-1956/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-validation-act-1956/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-validation-act-1956/documents"}}
