These adjustments account for changes in exchange rates between the Australian pound and other currencies.\n\n**Who it affects:** Importers and businesses who paid customs duties between August 1934 and February 1935.\n\n**Why it matters:** Without this law, duties collected during this interim period could be challenged as illegal. The Act protects government revenue by backdating legal authority for these specific exchange-rate-related tax variations, covering actions taken even if the House of Representatives was dissolved during this period."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-exchange-adjustment-validation-act-1934","history":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-exchange-adjustment-validation-act-1934/history","analysis":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-exchange-adjustment-validation-act-1934/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-exchange-adjustment-validation-act-1934/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-exchange-adjustment-validation-act-1934/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/customs-tariff-exchange-adjustment-validation-act-1934/documents"}}
