It describes the coin's size, weight, shape, and what images and words appear on each side. Specifically, this coin must be at least 99.9% silver, weigh about 31.6 grams, be 40.6mm across, and feature the Queen on the front (obverse) and a leaping kangaroo on the back (reverse). The determination makes clear this doesn't replace other $1 coin designs already in circulation."},"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":2,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The instrument does not change the legal scope of currency law; it prescribes the specifications for one denomination/issue and expressly does not affect other determinations (cl.3(10))."},"complexity_factors":["Narrow, technical subject matter: precise physical measurements and a small allowed weight tolerance (cl.3(2)–(7))","Material composition requirement of not less than 99.9% silver (cl.3(1))","Specified imagery and inscriptions required on obverse and reverse (cl.3(8)–(9))","Legal formality: made under subsection 13A(1) of the Currency Act 1965 with a stated commencement date (heading; cl.2)","Non-derogation clause preserving other determinations (cl.3(10))"],"plain_english_summary":"This Determination sets the physical and design rules for a specific $1 coin: at least 99.9% silver, circular with a milled edge, weight 31.635 g (±0.500 g), diameter 40.60 mm, thickness 4.00 mm, specified obverse (Queen and inscriptions) and reverse (leaping kangaroo and inscriptions).
