It sets out the rules for **community radio broadcasting** on **Kangaroo Island, South Australia**.\n\n**What it does:**\n- **Authorises one community radio service** to operate in the Kangaroo Island area using specific radio frequencies (the \"broadcasting services bands\").\n- **Allocates a service licence** (SL010254) to this community radio service.\n- **Specifies two transmitters** (with technical specification numbers TS002997 and TS005691) that will broadcast the service across the island.\n- **Attaches technical details** in separate documents (Attachments 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3) that describe exactly where the service covers and how the transmitters work.\n\n**Who it affects:**\n- Community radio broadcasters wanting to operate on Kangaroo Island.\n- Listeners on Kangaroo Island who want to access community radio.\n- The regulator (the ABA/ACMA) when issuing or renewing licences.\n\n**Why it matters:**\nThis plan is the legal foundation that allows a community radio station to exist in this specific area. Without this determination, no one could legally broadcast community radio on Kangaroo Island using these frequencies. It ensures the service is properly planned, doesn't interfere with other broadcasters, and serves the local community."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/community-radio-licence-area-plan-kangaroo-island-radio-august-1996","history":"/api/acts/community-radio-licence-area-plan-kangaroo-island-radio-august-1996/history","analysis":"/api/acts/community-radio-licence-area-plan-kangaroo-island-radio-august-1996/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/community-radio-licence-area-plan-kangaroo-island-radio-august-1996/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/community-radio-licence-area-plan-kangaroo-island-radio-august-1996/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/community-radio-licence-area-plan-kangaroo-island-radio-august-1996/documents"}}
