These were fees historically charged to ships for funding lighthouses and navigation aids in former British colonies.\n\n**What it does:**\n- Repeals six outdated Acts from the 1930s: the Colonial Light Dues Collection Acts (1932, 1934, 1936), the Colonial Light Dues (Rates) Acts (1932, 1936), and the Colonial Light Dues Appropriation Act (1932)\n- Effectively ends the colonial-era mechanism where shipping fees funded maritime navigation safety\n\n**Who it affects:**\n- Shipping operators and vessel owners previously subject to these navigation fees\n- Maritime authorities (by formally completing the transition to modern funding arrangements)\n\n**Why it matters:**\nThis is legal housekeeping that removes obsolete laws. It reflects Australia's shift away from colonial-era funding systems toward modern arrangements for maintaining lighthouses and maritime safety infrastructure."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/colonial-light-dues-legislation-repeal-act-1960","history":"/api/acts/colonial-light-dues-legislation-repeal-act-1960/history","analysis":"/api/acts/colonial-light-dues-legislation-repeal-act-1960/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/colonial-light-dues-legislation-repeal-act-1960/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/colonial-light-dues-legislation-repeal-act-1960/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/colonial-light-dues-legislation-repeal-act-1960/documents"}}
