{"id":"F2008L01550","name":"CASA EX31/08 – Exemption – runway end safety area non-compliance RWY 07 end","slug":"casa-ex31-08-exemption-runway-end-safety-area-non-compliance-rwy-07-end","collection":"legislative_instrument","jurisdiction":"commonwealth","status":"repealed","isInForce":false,"actNumber":null,"makingDate":null,"administeringDepartment":null,"currentVersion":{"id":73649,"registerId":"commonwealth-F2008L01550-current","compilationNumber":null,"startDate":"2026-04-02","status":"Repealed","reasons":null,"registeredAt":null},"sections":[{"sectionNumber":"1","sectionType":"section","heading":"CASA EX31/08 – Exemption – runway end safety area non-compliance RWY 07 end","content":"Instrument number CASA EX31/08\n\nI, KIMBALL PETER JONES, Manager Airways and Aerodromes, Office of Airspace Regulation, a delegate of CASA, make this instrument under regulation 139.020 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (CASR 1998).\n\n\\[Signed Kimball Jones\\]\n\nKim Jones  \nManager Airways and Aerodromes  \nOffice of Airspace Regulation\n\n14 May 2008\n\nExemption — runway end safety area non-compliance RWY 07 end\n\n1 Duration\n\nThis instrument:\n\n(a) commences on 14 May 2008; and\n\n(b) stops having effect at the end of 31 October 2008.\n\n2 Revocation\n\nInstrument AD 06/2008 is revoked.\n\n3 Application\n\nThe instrument applies to Sydney Airport Corporation Limited, the operator of Sydney International Airport (the operator), in relation to runway end safety area (RESA) RWY 07 undershoot end.\n\n4 Exemption\n\nThe operator is exempt from compliance with regulation 139.015 of CASR 1998 in respect of paragraphs 6.2.25.1 and 6.2.25.2 of Subpart 139.A of the Manual of Standards Part 139.\n\n5 Conditions\n\nThe exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.\n\nSchedule 1 Conditions\n\n1 Landings on Runway 07 may be undertaken when crosswinds on other runways exceed 20 knots or for urgent medical or emergency operations.\n\n2 For Runway 07 landings, a non-compliant undershoot RESA is in existence with a compliant overrun RESA provided at the eastern end of the runway.\n\n3 The operator must ensure that a fully compliant temporary RESA is provided when landing on RWY 25 at the runway overrun end by reducing the declared distance of this runway by 97 metres at the western end.","sortOrder":0}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"_metrics":{"model":"kimi-k2.5","source":"moonshot-batch","completionTokens":1748},"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"This instrument maintains a narrow, specific scope limited to temporary relief for RESA non-compliance at a single runway end of Sydney Airport.
