McCormick\\]\n\nJohn F McCormick  \nDirector of Aviation Safety\n\n22 October 2012\n\nExemption — flight in Class D airspace within 16 kilometres of an aerodrome\n\n1 Duration\n\nThis instrument:\n\n(a) commences on the day after registration; and\n\n(b) stops having effect at the end of August 2015.\n\n2 Application\n\nThis instrument applies to the operation of hang\\-gliders by members of the Sunshine Coast Hang Gliding Club (the Association) for operations in Class D airspace and within 16 kilometres of the Sunshine Coast Airport.\n\n3 Exemption\n\nA member of the Association is exempt from the requirements of subparagraph 7.1 (i) (iii) and paragraph 7.6 of Civil Aviation Order 95.8.\n\n4 Conditions\n\nThe exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.\n\nSchedule 1 — Conditions\n\n1 The operations must be within the 2 areas:\n\n(a) Area A (Point Cartwright), the line drawn between Beacon Lighthouse, Lat 26° 40’ 47” and Long 153° 8’ 18” south and 100 m offshore to a point at the northern end of the residential area at coordinates Lat 26° 41’47”, Long 153° 8’ 10” and 100 m offshore; and\n\n(b) Area B within the boundaries of a line following the coastline from coordinate Lat 26° 40’ 16”, Long 153° 6’ 36” and 100 m offshore to a position at coordinates Lat 26° 40’ 42”, Long 153° 7’ 8”.\n\n2 Operations must not be above 300 ft AMSL.\n\n3 Operations must be conducted only in V.M.C.\n\n4 The duty pilot must obtain approval from Airservices Australia (AA) Sunshine Coast Tower on each occasion that flying is planned to occur.\n\n5 The duty pilot must also advise AA each time flying operations are completed.","sortOrder":0}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"_metrics":{"model":"kimi-k2.5","source":"moonshot-batch","completionTokens":2802},"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The instrument maintains a narrow, specific scope limited to members of one hang gliding club operating in defined geographic areas near Sunshine Coast Airport, consistent with its purpose as a targeted operational exemption."},"complexity_factors":["Precise geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) defining operational boundaries for Area A and Area B","Reference to unexplained provisions of Civil Aviation Order 95.8 (subparagraph 7.1(i)(iii) and paragraph 7.6)","Technical aviation terminology requiring specialist knowledge (Class D airspace, AMSL, VMC, Airservices Australia)","Multi-layered conditional structure requiring simultaneous compliance with location, altitude, weather, and communication requirements"],"plain_english_summary":"This instrument exempts Sunshine Coast Hang Gliding Club members from certain Civil Aviation Order 95.8 restrictions so they can operate hang gliders in controlled airspace near Sunshine Coast Airport.
