Think of them as the 'house rules' for a public heritage site.\n\n**What the rules cover:**\n\n* **Entry and fees:** You must pay any entrance fee set by the Trust, and you can't enter when the site is closed. Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult.\n* **Behaviour:** Visitors must not disturb others, smoke/eat/drink in prohibited areas, use offensive language, or litter. You can't bring weapons, animals (except guide dogs), skateboards, scooters, or roller blades.\n* **Protecting the property:** You can't damage plants, climb on structures, enter water bodies, light fires, touch historic artworks or furniture, or take photos inside buildings.\n* **Activities:** You can't sell things, collect money, hold rallies or demonstrations, or put up signs without permission.\n* **Driving and parking:** You must follow speed limits and parking signs, can't block access, and can't park in disabled spots without a valid permit.\n* **Enforcement:** Authorised officers can approve exceptions to these rules (sometimes for a fee), remove unattended animals, and hold onto confiscated items if needed for legal proceedings.\n\n**Penalties:** Breaking these rules can result in fines (called 'expiation fees' — like an on-the-spot fine) ranging from $105 to $160, or maximum court penalties up to $1,250 for serious offences.\n\n**Why it matters:** These rules protect a significant heritage property while ensuring visitors can enjoy it safely.
