This figure applies to section 7(1)(a) of the *Australian National Railways Commission Act 1983* (the parent law that created the Commission). In practical terms, this meant:\n- Contracts valued at **$2.1 million or less** could be signed off by the Commission directly\n- Contracts valued at **more than $2.1 million** required additional approval (likely from the Minister for Transport)\n\nThis is a straightforward, technical instrument that simply sets a dollar figure to determine when the Commission needs to seek higher authority before committing to business deals."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/australian-national-railways-commission-regulations","history":"/api/acts/australian-national-railways-commission-regulations/history","analysis":"/api/acts/australian-national-railways-commission-regulations/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/australian-national-railways-commission-regulations/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/australian-national-railways-commission-regulations/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/australian-national-railways-commission-regulations/documents"}}
