Under the parent Act, this threshold determines which contracts the AIHW can sign independently and which require ministerial approval or other oversight.\n\n**Why it matters**\nThis is \"machinery\" legislation that ensures proper financial governance. It allows the Institute to operate efficiently for routine procurement while ensuring major contracts (worth $1.5 million or more) receive appropriate scrutiny.\n\n**Updating old rules**\nThe regulations repeal and replace the previous 1998 regulations of the same name, modernising the legislative framework without changing the underlying purpose."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/australian-institute-of-health-and-welfare-regulations-2006","history":"/api/acts/australian-institute-of-health-and-welfare-regulations-2006/history","analysis":"/api/acts/australian-institute-of-health-and-welfare-regulations-2006/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/australian-institute-of-health-and-welfare-regulations-2006/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/australian-institute-of-health-and-welfare-regulations-2006/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/australian-institute-of-health-and-welfare-regulations-2006/documents"}}
