They operate under the main **Architectural Practice Act 2009** and fill in the practical details that the Act leaves to regulations.\n\n**Who it affects:**\n\n- **Registered architects** and **architectural businesses** in South Australia\n- People applying for registration or dealing with the Architects Board\n- Anyone making a complaint about an architect's conduct\n- Insurance companies or parties making claims against architects for negligence\n\n**Key things the regulations cover:**\n\n- **Annual reporting:** What the Architects Board must report each year — including how many architects are registered, how many complaints went to the Tribunal, and what committees the Board has set up.\n\n- **Registers:** How people notify the Registrar about changes — specifically, it must be **in writing**.\n\n- **Who can use \"architect\" in their job title:** The regulations list specific exceptions where people *can* use the word \"architect\" even if they're not registered — including **architectural engineer**, **golf course architect**, **information technology architect**, **IT architect**, and **system architect**. (Without this exception, only registered architects could use the title.)\n\n- **Reporting bad behaviour:** If someone reports an architect for unprofessional conduct, the report must include the **date, time, place** and **nature** of what allegedly happened.\n\n- **Insurance claims:** If someone makes a negligence claim against an architect, or if a court orders damages or a settlement is reached, specific details must be provided to the Board within **30 days** — including what service was allegedly negligent, where and when it happened, and what injury or loss occurred.\n\n- **Fees:** The Board can set fees for registrations, reinstatements, annual renewals, copies of registers, and other services. These fees can vary depending on circumstances (for example, different fees for different types of registration). Unpaid fees can be recovered as a debt through the courts.\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nThese rules ensure the architectural profession is properly overseen, that the public can check who is registered, and that complaints and negligence claims are properly tracked. The fee provisions ensure the Board can fund its operations. The exceptions for certain job titles prevent the law from being unreasonably broad — stopping IT professionals or golf course designers from being prosecuted for using the word \"architect\" in their title."},"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"A positive credit balance is required for all requests, including BYOK, so fallback providers remain available.
