They do two main things:\n\n**First**, they declare that the *Health (Pesticides) Regulations 2011* are an \"eligible law\" — meaning those regulations can operate alongside the national agricultural chemicals scheme without being overridden by it.\n\n**Second**, they protect two other important WA laws from being displaced by the national scheme:\n- The *Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act 1984* (workplace safety laws)\n- The *Medicines and Poisons Act 2014* (controlling dangerous substances)\n\nThese \"savings provisions\" ensure that even though WA participates in the national system for regulating agricultural and veterinary chemicals (the \"Agvet Code\"), the state can still enforce its own workplace safety and poison control laws when they overlap with chemical regulation.\n\n**Who it affects:** Farmers, chemical manufacturers, veterinarians, and anyone who works with agricultural or veterinary chemicals in Western Australia. It also affects government agencies enforcing workplace safety and poison laws.\n\n**Why it matters:** Without these regulations, there could be confusion about which law applies when — for example, if a pesticide is being used unsafely at work, or if a veterinary drug is also a controlled poison. This makes clear that WA's safety and poison laws still have full force."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/agricultural-and-veterinary-chemicals-western-australia-regulations-1995","history":"/api/acts/agricultural-and-veterinary-chemicals-western-australia-regulations-1995/history","analysis":"/api/acts/agricultural-and-veterinary-chemicals-western-australia-regulations-1995/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/agricultural-and-veterinary-chemicals-western-australia-regulations-1995/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/agricultural-and-veterinary-chemicals-western-australia-regulations-1995/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/agricultural-and-veterinary-chemicals-western-australia-regulations-1995/documents"}}
