The actions specified by this Airworthiness Directive (AD) are intended to prevent further failures of the seat backrests which could result in injury to passengers or crew members during an emergency landing.Since the issuance of the original issue of this Airworthiness Directive, Aviointeriors has identified a life limitation for backrests that do not have tool marks. Consequently, this Airworthiness Directive mandates the replacement of those backrests before reaching the specified threshold. The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective 15 February 2007. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nDavid Villiers \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n17 July 2008","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/SEATS/28 Amdt 1","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/SEATS/28 Amdt 1","content":"## AD/SEATS/28 Amdt 1","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Passenger Seat Backrest - Replacement","sectionType":"part","heading":"Passenger Seat Backrest - Replacement","content":"## Passenger Seat Backrest - Replacement","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"9/2008","sectionType":"part","heading":"9/2008","content":"## 9/2008","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":5,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"The amendment expands the AD’s scope by introducing a life limitation for backrests that do not have tool marks and mandating their replacement before the stated flight-cycle/date thresholds.
