without loss of the door. Investigation revealed incorrect positioning of a door catch, which induced incorrect locking and resulted in the uncontrolled opening of the door. This condition, if not detected and corrected, could lead to in-flight loss of the hinged door, with the potential to cause damage to the main and/or tail rotor blades, with possible loss of control of the helicopter; and creating risk of injury to persons on the ground. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nDavid Punshon \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n28 January 2009","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/S-PUMA/83","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/S-PUMA/83","content":"## AD/S-PUMA/83","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Hinged Door Upper and Lower Catches","sectionType":"part","heading":"Hinged Door Upper and Lower Catches","content":"## Hinged Door Upper and Lower Catches","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"3/2009","sectionType":"part","heading":"3/2009","content":"## 3/2009","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The directive targets AS 332 models with hinged doors delivered before 1 August 2007 to correct incorrectly positioned catches reported in an in‑flight opening.
