The cracked propeller hub is still under investigation and therefore no detailed information about the kind of failure is known at the present time. The actions specified by this Airworthiness Directive are of a precautionary nature and are intended to prevent possible further hub failures. This amendment introduces an ultrasonic inspection of the propeller hub.Amendment 2 became effective on 23 December 2005. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nJames Coyne \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n25 May 2005","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/PHOF/2 Amdt 3","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/PHOF/2 Amdt 3","content":"## AD/PHOF/2 Amdt 3","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Propeller Hub","sectionType":"part","heading":"Propeller Hub","content":"## Propeller Hub","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"7/2005","sectionType":"part","heading":"7/2005","content":"## 7/2005","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"A positive credit balance is required for all requests, including BYOK, so fallback providers remain available. It applies inspections irrespective of Time Since New for some tasks, adds explicit rules for propeller hubs exceeding 500 flight hours TSN at the effective date, and links mandatory actions to particular service bulletins and service instructions (LBA/EASA‑approved revisions). The net effect is broader and more prescriptive inspection and testing requirements than the earlier text, increasing the compliance obligations on operators and maintenance providers."},"complexity_factors":["Multiple inspection types required: visual/physical blade shake check, torque measurement, ultrasonic inspection, conditional eddy current inspection","Several timing rules with tolerances (initial before next flight; 50 flight hours ±5; 100 flight hours ±10; then every ≤100 flight hours)","Pre‑flight requirement applied at every pre‑flight inspection after effective date","Conditional rules for hubs with TSN > 500 on effective date (additional immediate inspection and then 100‑hour intervals)","Nested conditional flows (e.g. eddy current only if ultrasonic shows damage; repair required before further flight if torque below limits)","Cross‑references to external documents: Operations & Maintenance Manual, Service Bulletin 61-10-03 SB E 15B, Service Instruction 61-10-05 SI E 4D and LBA/EASA approvals","Reference to a foreign airworthiness directive (German LBA D-2004-352R4 approved by EASA) which may require checking other jurisdictions' documents","Possible ambiguities in interpreting 'effective date' and 'prior to next flight' when combined with TSN thresholds and tolerance windows","Operational compliance depends on NDT interpretation and maintenance authority judgments (serviceable limits require reference to manuals)"],"plain_english_summary":"This AD mandates recurring inspections and immediate repair or replacement of Hoffmann HO‑V343K propeller hubs and retention hardware, adding ultrasonic (and, if indicated, eddy‑current) NDT plus frequent pre‑flight checks and torque verification.
