Background: | BAE Systems was notified by the main landing gear radius rod manufacturer, APPH Ltd, that a batch of incorrectly manufactured Buffer Springs part number 184818 had been supplied to their parts distributor and MRO facilities in North America. There is a risk that any radius rod fitted with one of these incorrectly manufactured Buffer Springs could jam in an unlocked position. This condition, if not corrected, could result in main landing gear collapse.Amendment 1 is issued to introduce ASB 32-A-JA090640 Revision 2, which identifies an additional seven affected radius rods by serial number. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nDavid Villiers \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n13 August 2009","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/JETSTREAM/106 Amdt 1","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/JETSTREAM/106 Amdt 1","content":"## AD/JETSTREAM/106 Amdt 1","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Main Landing Gear Radius Rod","sectionType":"part","heading":"Main Landing Gear Radius Rod","content":"## Main Landing Gear Radius Rod","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"10/2009 TX","sectionType":"part","heading":"10/2009 TX","content":"## 10/2009 TX","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"This Amendment 1 maintains the original scope of the Airworthiness Directive — addressing the same safety issue (defective Buffer Springs in main landing gear radius rods) for the same aircraft types. It also prohibits installing those serial-numbered rods unless they have been inspected, rectified if necessary, and marked by an authorised overhaul agency to APPH Ltd service bulletin standards.
