Symmetric safety harnesses and three-point (lap/sash) harnesses approved and installed before 6 March 1980 may continue in service.\n\n    2. There must be a means of securing the safety harness when not in use, to prevent interference with the operation of the aeroplane and with rapid egress in an emergency.\n\nCompliance: This Amendment becomes effective on 15 July 1999.\n\nBackground: Approved safety harnesses are already required at each flight crew seat.
