FU 24 Series Aeroplanes\n\nAD/FU24/51\n\nAmdt 2\n\n  \nFin Forward Attachment Fitting 2/96\n\nApplicability: All models which have achieved one year since manufacture.\n\nRequirement: To prevent failure of the fin forward attachment fitting accomplish the following:\n\n    Remove fairing P/N 24231 at base of fin leading edge.\n\n    2. Inspect fitting P/N 243017-2 or 243017-3 and adjacent fin and fuselage structure for cracks and corrosion.\n\n    3. Remove corrosion or renew parts as necessary and protect surfaces.\n\nNote: CAA NZ AD DCA/FU24/161A refers.\n\nCompliance: Within 100 hours time in service after 31 January 1977 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 12 months. Revised effective date of this AD is 1 February 1996.\n\nBackground: Amendment 1 relaxed the compliance in view of information which suggested that the more stringent compliance affected sealing of the subject area, and could be detrimental.\n\nAmendment 2 includes an inspection for cracks as well as corrosion.","sortOrder":0}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"_metrics":{"model":"kimi-k2.5","source":"moonshot-batch","completionTokens":1697},"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":2,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The amendments refined inspection intervals and added crack-detection requirements, but the scope remains tightly focused on the fin forward attachment fitting of FU 24 aircraft. It mandates regular health checks on the bracket that bolts the tail fin to the fuselage — the \"fin forward attachment fitting.\"\n\n**What you must do:**\n* **Pull off** the fairing (the aerodynamic cover) at the base of the tail fin\n* **Inspect** the metal fitting and surrounding structure for **cracks and corrosion** (rust)\n* **Fix or replace** any damaged bits and protect the surfaces from further decay\n\n**Who it hits:** Every FU 24 model more than one year old.\n\n**When:** First inspection within 100 hours of flying time after 31 January 1977, then **every 12 months** without fail.\n\n**Why it matters:** If this fitting fails, the tail falls off. Not ideal. This version (Amendment 2) toughens up earlier rules by adding crack-detection to the previous corrosion hunt."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/ad-fu24-51-amdt-2-fin-forward-attachment-fitting","history":"/api/acts/ad-fu24-51-amdt-2-fin-forward-attachment-fitting/history","analysis":"/api/acts/ad-fu24-51-amdt-2-fin-forward-attachment-fitting/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/ad-fu24-51-amdt-2-fin-forward-attachment-fitting/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/ad-fu24-51-amdt-2-fin-forward-attachment-fitting/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/ad-fu24-51-amdt-2-fin-forward-attachment-fitting/documents"}}
