Fitment of the aircraft electrical connector is possible with the foil present. In these circumstances the aircraft fire bottle may not discharge if required in an emergency. |\n\n| | Amendment 1 of this AD is issued to align the applicability with that of FAA AD 84‑18-07 by removing Overland Aviation Service Company P/N OA841155. |\n| --- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |\n\n![](image.001.png)\n\nBen Wilson \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n28 November 2017","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/FPE/8 Amdt 1","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/FPE/8 Amdt 1","content":"## AD/FPE/8 Amdt 1","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Fire Bottle Discharge Cartridges - Inspe","sectionType":"part","heading":"Fire Bottle Discharge Cartridges - Inspection","content":"## Fire Bottle Discharge Cartridges - Inspection","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"24/2017","sectionType":"part","heading":"24/2017","content":"## 24/2017","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":2,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"Amendment 1 removes Overland Aviation Service Company P/N OA841155 from the applicability to align with FAA AD 84‑18‑07, thereby narrowing the set of affected cartridges and reducing the number of operators/parts-holders required to comply."},"complexity_factors":["Narrow applicability to a short list of specific part numbers (Applicability).","Simple, mechanical inspection and removal steps (Requirement 1(a)–(c); Requirement 2).","Short, binary compliance timing: within 30 days after commencement or before fitment (Compliance).","Cross-reference to an existing FAA airworthiness directive (FAA AD 84‑18‑07) adds an external compliance nexus (Requirement 2).","Amendment 1 alters applicability by removing one Overland P/N, changing the affected population (Amendment 1)."],"plain_english_summary":"This airworthiness directive requires owners, operators and maintenance personnel to inspect specified Walter Kidde and Overland Aviation Service Company fire‑bottle discharge cartridges (listed part numbers manufactured before July/August 1984) for aluminium foil inside the electrical receptacle, remove any foil found, and restore the electrical connector.
