It applies only to Beaufort (Airsea) MK.8E and MK.8E(W) life jackets fitted with Knapp Monarch operating mechanisms (part numbers KN-A138 or KN-A135).\n\n**The safety problem:** Tests found that the thread where the gas cylinder screws in is too short. This means the cylinder might not seal properly or get punctured when the mechanism is activated, potentially preventing the life jacket from inflating during an emergency.\n\n**What must be done:** Owners or operators must have these life jackets inspected within 12 months after 30 September 1983. The inspection must follow either:\n- Beaufort Service Bulletin No. 043; or  \n- A procedure approved by the Secretary (the senior government official responsible for aviation safety)."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/ad-emy-19-life-jackets-inspection","history":"/api/acts/ad-emy-19-life-jackets-inspection/history","analysis":"/api/acts/ad-emy-19-life-jackets-inspection/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/ad-emy-19-life-jackets-inspection/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/ad-emy-19-life-jackets-inspection/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/ad-emy-19-life-jackets-inspection/documents"}}
