The damage of the pins is shown by partially blackened portions, or charring of the elastomeric insert, adjacent to and surrounding the pin. This damage can lead to a failure in the electrical connectors, possibly due to heat generated by degraded spring-tension of the mating connector's female, which may cause arcing between poles. This Directive requires the repetitive inspections and, if necessary, replacement of affected fuel pumps. The Directive also provides an optional terminating action to the repetitive inspections. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nJames Coyne \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n16 June 2008","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/EMB-145/5","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/EMB-145/5","content":"## AD/EMB-145/5","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Fuel Pump Electrical Connectors","sectionType":"part","heading":"Fuel Pump Electrical Connectors","content":"## Fuel Pump Electrical Connectors","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"8/2008 DM","sectionType":"part","heading":"8/2008 DM","content":"## 8/2008 DM","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":6,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The directive focuses on preventing electrical connector damage in EMB-145 fuel pumps by requiring inspections, replacements, and offering an optional maintenance-plan revision as a terminating action.
