High burner fuel flow variations could lead to HP turbine disc diaphragm stresses. Burner flow variation is still associated with vibratory excitation of certain HP turbine blade assemblies. This can accelerate wear between the blade platforms and shrouds and potentially this can result in high stresses in the disc rim. The actions specified by this airworthiness directive are intended to prevent engine damages and loss of the engine in flight. |\n| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nDavid Punshon \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n11 February 2008","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/DART/32","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/DART/32","content":"## AD/DART/32","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Fuel Burner Flow Calibration Checks","sectionType":"part","heading":"Fuel Burner Flow Calibration Checks","content":"## Fuel Burner Flow Calibration Checks","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"4/2008","sectionType":"part","heading":"4/2008","content":"## 4/2008","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The AD’s scope is limited to the specified Dart engine models (all serial numbers) and expressly excludes engines with Rolls‑Royce modification 1946; the instrument implements calibration checks per the manufacturer's service bulletin without expanding or narrowing coverage beyond those stated criteria in the source text."},"complexity_factors":["Cross-reference to manufacturer Service Bulletin (SB Da73‑A87 Rev 3) — compliance depends on following detailed external technical instructions","Large list of specific engine models (many variants) increases applicability tracking for operators","Explicit exclusion for engines with Rolls‑Royce modification 1946 (via SB Da72‑533) requires record checks","Safety‑critical engineering focus (HP turbine disc stresses) implies technical competence and possible engine downtime","Compliance timing tied to SB thresholds and intervals creates scheduling and maintenance-planning burden","Reference to EASA AD 2008‑0004 adds regulatory cross-jurisdictional alignment but no new procedural steps in the text"],"plain_english_summary":"This Airworthiness Directive requires operators and maintenance organisations to carry out fuel-burner flow calibration checks and any corrective actions exactly as set out in Rolls‑Royce Service Bulletin Da73‑A87 Revision 3 for specified Dart‑series turbine engines.
