The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.\n\n \n\nBombardier (Canadair) CL-600 (Challenger) Series Aeroplanes\n\n \n\n# AD/CL-600/61 Main Landing Gear Side-Brace Fitting Shaft\n\n\n13/2002\n\n \n\nApplicability: Model CL-600-2B16 aircraft, serial numbers 5301 through 5550.\n\n \n\nRequirement: Action in accordance with Bombardier Alert Service Bulletin A604-32-018, Revision 1, dated 22 February 2002.\n\n \n\nNote: Transport Canada AD CF-2002-43 refers.\n\n \n\nCompliance: For Paragraph 2.B. Part C of Requirement document: Within 5 months after 26 December 2002.\n\n \n\nThis Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 26 December 2002.\n\n \n\nBackground: Transport Canada received two reports of fractures of the main landing gear side- brace fitting shafts on CL-604 aircraft. The fractures were caused by corrosion on the forward side of the side-brace fitting shafts. Although the fractured shafts did not become dislodged in either of the cases reported, breakage of a shaft could potentially result in collapse of a landing gear.\n\n![Signature of David Alan Villiers Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority](image.002.jpeg) \n\n\nDavid Alan Villiers\n\nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 8 November 2002\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n![](image.001.png) \n\n\nThe above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 4 December 2002.\n\n \n\n \n\n\nPage 1 of 1\n","sortOrder":0}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":4,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The directive's scope is limited to CL-600-2B16 aircraft with serial numbers 5301–5550 and requires the actions specified in the referenced Bombardier service bulletin within stated timeframes.
