This Amendment requires removing software version E.1.N or earlier from the engine ECU. Engines with the new version software will have increased margin to flameout. Both this Amendment and the original issue of this Directive results from reports of engine flameout events during flight, including reports of events where all engines simultaneously experienced a flameout or other adverse operation. Although the root cause investigation is not yet complete, the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) believe that exposure to ice crystals during flight is associated with these flameout events and that further rulemaking may be necessary. |\n| | This Amendment is issued to minimize the potential of an all-engine flameout event caused by ice accretion and shedding during flight. |\n| | The original issue of this Directive became effective on 4 August 2005. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nCharles Lenarcic \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n7 September 2007","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/CF6/58 Amdt 1","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/CF6/58 Amdt 1","content":"## AD/CF6/58 Amdt 1","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Electronic Control Unit Software","sectionType":"part","heading":"Electronic Control Unit Software","content":"## Electronic Control Unit Software","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"11/2007","sectionType":"part","heading":"11/2007","content":"## 11/2007","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":4,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"This Amendment expands the software versions required to be removed: the original Directive addressed software version E.1.M or earlier, while this Amendment requires removal of E.1.N or earlier and replaces the original issue (Background).
