The FAA AD was originally issued to detect and correct a possible error in battery switch wiring which may contribute to thermal runaway of the nickel-cadmium batteries. |\n\n| | Whilst CASA acknowledges that there have been no incidents of a similar nature reported in Australia and that 31 of the affected aeroplanes are currently on the Australian register, CASA is required to publish State of design ADs which may affect Australian aircraft. Consequently, given the time since the FAA AD was made and the number of affected aircraft in Australia, the compliance in this Directive is extended from that in the FAA AD of ‘Prior to the next flight’ to ‘At the next scheduled maintenance but no later than 25 September 2009’. |\n| --- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nCharles Lenarcic \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n15 August 2008","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/CESSNA 400/116","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/CESSNA 400/116","content":"## AD/CESSNA 400/116","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Dual Battery Switch","sectionType":"part","heading":"Dual Battery Switch","content":"## Dual Battery Switch","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"10/2008","sectionType":"part","heading":"10/2008","content":"## 10/2008","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"CASA altered the compliance timing compared with the FAA action: the FAA required correction prior to the next flight, while this Directive allows the records check at the next scheduled maintenance (but no later than 25 September 2009) and requires any corrective modification before further flight after a non‑compliance determination.
