A squib valve in the inflation system can fail when activated, risking flotation loss and helicopter sinking in water. Operators must follow Bell Alert Service Bulletin No. 412-87-29 Rev. A to inspect/repair/replace the valve assembly within 500 flight hours after 7 May 1987 or before 31 July 1987, whichever comes first.
