The area to be inspected includes the upper part of the ‘I’ section shank, the hollow crossbar and the brake pedal attachment lugs. Particular attention must be paid to the fillet radii and holes.\n\nCompliance: 1. Initially inspect before the issue of the next maintenance release after 31 October 1987. Re-inspect at intervals not to exceed 12 months.\n\n2. Inspect before flight if the aircraft has been parked for more than 3 months with the rudder pedals locked.\n\nNote: The Maintenance Manual prohibits towing with the rudder pedals locked. This practice may also cause premature cracking.\n\nBackground: A review of cracked rudder pedals suggests that the primary cause of cracking is wind loads when the aircraft is parked on the ground with the rudder pedals locked, normal operating loads being a secondary factor. The inspection interval is now based on calendar time, special provision is made for aircraft parked in the open for long periods and a warning has been added about correct towing practice.","sortOrder":0}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"_metrics":{"model":"kimi-k2.5","source":"moonshot-batch","completionTokens":2875},"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"This amendment changed the inspection interval basis to calendar time, added special inspection requirements for aircraft parked long-term with locked rudder pedals, and included a warning against towing with locked pedals."},"complexity_factors":["Reference to technical aviation standards (CAO 108.10 for fluorescent dye penetrant inspection)","Specific part number requirements (P/N 50-524326)","Multiple compliance conditions (initial inspection, recurring 12-month intervals, and conditional pre-flight inspection)","Technical engineering terminology (fillet radii, 'I' section shank, dash numbers)"],"plain_english_summary":"This AD requires owners of Beechcraft 56TC Turbo Baron aeroplanes with rudder pedal arms P/N 50-524326 to inspect those pedals for cracks using fluorescent dye-penetrant inspection. The first check is required before the next maintenance release after 31 Oct 1987 and then annually; aircraft parked over three months with pedals locked must be inspected before next flight. It matters because cracked pedal arms can fail and compromise control—damage is mainly from wind loads on locked rudders (towing with locked pedals is also warned against)."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/ad-beech-56-27-amdt-2-rudder-pedal-arms","history":"/api/acts/ad-beech-56-27-amdt-2-rudder-pedal-arms/history","analysis":"/api/acts/ad-beech-56-27-amdt-2-rudder-pedal-arms/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/ad-beech-56-27-amdt-2-rudder-pedal-arms/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/ad-beech-56-27-amdt-2-rudder-pedal-arms/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/ad-beech-56-27-amdt-2-rudder-pedal-arms/documents"}}
