The area to be inspected includes the upper part of the “I” section shank, the hollow crossbar and the brake pedal attachment lugs. Particular attention must be paid to the fillet radii and holes.\n\nCompliance: 1. Initially inspect before the issue of the next maintenance release after 31 October 1987. Re-inspect at intervals not to exceed 12 months.\n\n2. Inspect before flight if the aircraft has been parked for more than 3 months with the rudder pedals locked.\n\nNote: The Maintenance Manual prohibits towing with the rudder pedals locked. This practice may also cause premature cracking.\n\nBackground: A review of cracked rudder pedals suggests that the primary cause of cracking is wind loads when the aircraft is parked on the ground with the rudder pedals locked, normal operating loads being a secondary factor. The inspection interval is now based on calendar time, special provision is made for aircraft parked in the open for long periods and a warning has been added about correct towing practice.","sortOrder":0}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"_metrics":{"model":"kimi-k2.5","source":"moonshot-batch","completionTokens":2541},"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":2,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"This amendment changes the inspection regime from flight hours to calendar time (12-month intervals) and adds new provisions for aircraft parked long-term with locked pedals, reflecting updated safety data showing that ground wind loads cause more damage than operational flight loads."},"complexity_factors":["References external technical standard (CAO 108.10 for inspection method)","Specific part number applicability (P/N 50-524326)","Multiple compliance triggers (calendar-based intervals and event-based for long-term parking)","Technical aviation terminology (fillets, dash numbers, maintenance release)"],"plain_english_summary":"Owners of Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft with rudder pedal arms P/N 50-524326 must have a qualified inspector perform fluorescent dye penetrant checks of the upper rudder pedal arm (I‑section shank, hollow crossbar and brake-pedal lugs), focusing on fillets and holes.
