Particular attention must be paid to the fillet radii and holes.\n\nCompliance: Initially inspect before the issue of the next maintenance release after 31 October 1987.\n\nRe-inspect at intervals not to exceed 12 months. Inspect before flight if the aircraft has been parked for more than 3 months with the rudder pedals locked. This amendment becomes effective 30 March 1995.\n\nNote: The Maintenance Manual prohibits towing with the rudder pedals locked. This practice may also cause premature cracking.\n\nBackground: A review of cracked rudder pedals suggests that the primary cause of cracking is wind loads when the aircraft is parked on the ground with the rudder pedals locked, normal operating loads being a secondary factor. The inspection interval is now based on calendar time, special provision is made for aircraft parked in the open for long periods and a warning has been added about correct towing practice.","sortOrder":0}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"_metrics":{"model":"kimi-k2.5","source":"moonshot-batch","completionTokens":2439},"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":2,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"This amendment changes the inspection interval basis from flight hours/cycles to calendar time (12 months), introduces a new inspection requirement for aircraft parked long-term with locked rudder pedals (>3 months), and adds an operational warning about towing practices."},"complexity_factors":["Technical aviation terminology requiring specialized knowledge (fluorescent dye penetrant method, fillet radii, part numbers)","Multiple compliance triggers (12-month calendar intervals, post-storage event-based requirements)","Cross-reference to external technical standard (CAO 108.10)","Specific applicability limited to single part number (P/N 50-524326)"],"plain_english_summary":"This directive requires owners/operators of Beechcraft Debonair and Bonanza (models 33 and 35-33) fitted with rudder pedal arm P/N 50‑524326 to use fluorescent dye to inspect the upper rudder pedal arm (I‑section shank, hollow crossbar, attachment lugs) initially, every 12 months, and before flight if parked over 3 months with pedals locked.
