The Directive is issued to prevent an overheat condition outside the centre tank fuel pump explosion-resistance area that is open to the pump inlet, which could cause an ignition source for the fuel vapours in the fuel tank and result in fuel tank explosions and consequent loss of the aeroplane. |\n\n| | The Directive requires installing an automatic shutoff system for the auxiliary fuel tank override/jettison fuel pumps (also referred to as centre tank fuel pumps in the AFM), revising the AFM to advise the flightcrew of certain operating restrictions for aeroplanes equipped with an automatic auxiliary fuel tank pump shutoff control and, for certain aeroplanes, installing a placard to alert the flightcrew of certain fuel usage restrictions. The Directive also provides optional terminating actions for certain requirements. |\n| --- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nJames Coyne \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n14 August 2009","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/B767/252","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/B767/252","content":"## AD/B767/252","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Auxilary Fuel tank PumpAutomatic Shut Of","sectionType":"part","heading":"Auxilary Fuel tank PumpAutomatic Shut Off Installation","content":"## Auxilary Fuel tank Pump \nAutomatic Shut Off Installation","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"10/2009","sectionType":"part","heading":"10/2009","content":"## 10/2009","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"A positive credit balance is required for all requests, including BYOK, so fallback providers remain available.
