Failure of the stop support fittings could result in loss of a main entry door and consequent rapid decompression of the aircraft.Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new FAA AD, which adds new inspections, and replacement if necessary, of the stop support fittings of main entry door 3, and adds additional aircraft to applicability. These actions were prompted by reports of main entry door 3 having certain stop support fittings that are susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. |\n\n![](image.001.png)  \nDavid Villiers  \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n21 June 2005","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/B747/198 Amdt 1","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/B747/198 Amdt 1","content":"## AD/B747/198 Amdt 1","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Main Entry Door Stop Support Fitting","sectionType":"part","heading":"Main Entry Door Stop Support Fitting","content":"## Main Entry Door Stop Support Fitting","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"8/2005","sectionType":"part","heading":"8/2005","content":"## 8/2005","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"Unauthenticated. It affects owners, operators and maintenance organisations servicing listed 747 series in Australia. The measure is safety-critical: failed fittings can allow a main door to blow out in flight, causing rapid decompression, so compliance is mandatory to remain airworthy."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/ad-b747-198-amdt-1-main-entry-door-stop-support-fitting","history":"/api/acts/ad-b747-198-amdt-1-main-entry-door-stop-support-fitting/history","analysis":"/api/acts/ad-b747-198-amdt-1-main-entry-door-stop-support-fitting/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/ad-b747-198-amdt-1-main-entry-door-stop-support-fitting/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/ad-b747-198-amdt-1-main-entry-door-stop-support-fitting/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/ad-b747-198-amdt-1-main-entry-door-stop-support-fitting/documents"}}
