The actions required by this Directive are intended to prevent rapid decompression of the aircraft due to disbonding and subsequent cracking of the skin panels.Amendment 1 corrected an error with the effective date of the AD. The new effective date was changed to 27 February 1997.Amendment 2 is issued in response to a new FAA AD, which adds aircraft to applicability and requires new inspections of aircraft that may have Alodine-coated rivets installed. The FAA AD resulted from a report of cracking in a skin lap joint that was previously inspected using eddy current method. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nDavid Villiers \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n12 October 2006","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/B747/167 Amdt 2","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/B747/167 Amdt 2","content":"## AD/B747/167 Amdt 2","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"41","sectionType":"part","heading":"Bonded Skin Panels","content":"## Section 41 Bonded Skin Panels","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"12/2006","sectionType":"part","heading":"12/2006","content":"## 12/2006","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":4,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"Amendment 2 expands the AD's scope by adding aircraft to the applicability list and requiring new inspections for aircraft that may have Alodine-coated rivets installed.
